COPAIN, BREAD, GUTS & LIFE
“From bakery school to Atelier Co-pains, the recipe for courage and self-confidence.”
Serge Lamoral discovered at a young age that true wealth does not begin with diplomas or luck, but with the courage to believe in yourself. What started as a boyhood dream in baking school grew into a life path full of passion, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship.
With discipline, creativity and an indomitable drive, Serge brought his talents to fruition – from the ovens of top businesses to building Atelier Co-pains, a brand that became synonymous with quality and innovation. His story shows that with courage, perseverance and love for your craft, you not only bake bread, but also shape your own future.
Antwerp, 1943. While the persecution of the Jews rages on, Martinus’ mother sends him out to gather wood. In a deserted grove, he encounters Esther, a Jewish girl on the run. Her family has been arrested by the Gestapo, she is alone, frightened; and no longer safe anywhere.
What begins as a chance encounter develops into a deep friendship between two young people, each with their own background, beliefs, and fears. When Martinus is also forced to go into hiding, they flee together to the countryside, where a cautious love blossoms in silence.
In this moving story, the author provides a poignant insight into the lives of people in hiding during the Second World War. Amidst betrayal, deportations, and loss of identity, hope nevertheless shines through time and again. The power of mutual respect and humanity forms the backbone of this book.
“Martinus’ Great War” – A moving story about courage, friendship, and hope in dark times
Martinus’ Great War is more than a war story, it is a universal call for tolerance and a reminder of the importance of continuing to fight for peace. All facets of war in one’s own country are addressed: going into hiding, resistance, collaboration, repression, and above all… humanity.

INCLUDING NICA NICALEO’S PAMPHLET BANNED IN RUSSIA
As one of her last acts, a ninety-three year old woman dictates the account of her mother’s experiences in ’14-‘18 and her own during the Second World War.
“Some consider it as a show of haughtiness, others of indifference or bitterness: that she disappears from the street without looking back, is what most will remember as the last image of Anna Verduyn. And yet, Anna could be one of the many unknown heroines who lived through both world wars. At the end of 1917 the Germans arrest her as a spy and sentence her to death. She gets released in an unlikely way.”
“In 1940 a captain of the Kriegsgericht calls her to him and
snarls: ‘We still have a score to settle, Frau Verduyn …’”
A perilous journey through England in ‘14-‘18 on her Majesty’s Service at the end of WWII.
‘The disappearance of Anna Verduyn’ is based on true facts.

The Punk Explosion in Belgium 1976–1979 — a 800 page book, more than 1000 photos – documenting how Belgium became one of the first countries to catch the punk rock shockwave.
With the UK just across the Channel, Belgian teens were ferrying to London in ‘76, soaking up the underground scene, and bringing back records, fashion, fanzines, and fire. They didn’t just import punk—they ignited it locally. Bloody Belgium is the definitive chronicle of that explosive moment.
Nicknamed the Belgian punk bible, it features all the belgian punk bands from this era (there were a lot!), interviews with dozens of key figures. When naming a famous Belgian might he hard, you surely will know punk-legends as The Kids (who still play in the original line-up!), X-pulsion, Chainsaw, and Raxola to forgotten gems like SIC, Burk, or Karton.
This is more than a music book. It’s a document of rebellion, resistance, and raw creativity. A time capsule, a tribute—and yes, a riot in print.

Punk… what it set in motion, man! I knew immediately: this is it, this is the big revelation I’ve been waiting for for years. Without punk, I would never have climbed onto a stage myself. If you want to do something, just do it. You can do it, as long as you have the guts. Don’t think we were great musicians, mind you. Listen to the organ in the early releases of Aroma Di Amore; you couldn’t go and audition for Yes with that. But we did it anyway. Punk was great, although I always thought that a real punk band should only record a few singles and an LP at most. After that, they had to stop, as The Heartbreakers, X-Ray Spex and The Sex Pistols did so solemnly, or they had to evolve, like The Clash and Howard Devoto. Punk was a flash in the pan; it set everything on fire, and that’s a huge achievement.
Elvis Peeters, Author and singer of Aroma di Amore
